FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS GRASS FED BEEF?
"Grass Fed" means our cattle are not fed any antibiotics, hormones, or GMO feed. They are on a strictly grass diet throughout their entire lives. While most cattle end up in a feed lot for grain-finishing, Braune Farms cattle roam freely in open pastures from birth to processing. Our cattle are treated humanely, staying alongside their mothers until they are ready and mature enough for processing.

WHY IS GRASS FED BETTER?
NUTRITION: Grass Fed cattle have more of the good fat and less of the bad fat since they are eating their natural diet of grass their entire lives and get more exercise when they roam free.  Grass fed beef contains less cholesterol levels, more heart healthy omega 3 fatty acids, and more CLA(conjugated linolenic acid) which may help with muscle growth, reduce heart disease and lower cancer risk.

DRUGS: Conventional grain fed cattle are routinely given hormones and antibiotic in feed lots to combat the spread of disease. Our grass fed cattle are never given hormones or antibiotics and are free of unwanted chemicals in their systems.

ENVIRONMENT: Grass fed beef cattle spend their entire lives roaming in open pastures helping maintain healthy ecosystems in their environments and returning nutrients to the soil. Conventional, grain-finished cattle end up on over-populated feed lots.

WHERE DO YOU RAISE YOUR GRASS FED CATTLE?
Braune Farms Beef has 3 properties in Central and South Texas that we raise our grass fed cattle on. We rotate through our properties to make sure our cattle have enough grass available to them throughout the seasons.  We may sometimes feed, mainly, coastal hay, but rest assured, it is free of any GMO grain.

HOW AND WHERE ARE THE CATTLE PROCESSED?
We partner with Dean and Peeler Processing.  Visit their website to learn more about their humane handling.

WHAT TYPE/CUTS OF GRASS FED BEEF DO YOU SELL?
We sell many different cuts of beef.  All our packages are approximate weight in lbs., but we try our best to get as close to what is in the description of each product as possible.
